During the week before school started there were several special events to get students ready for the new school year. On Tuesday July 30 the College Academy had an open house. Here you can see our display outside our new Robotics Lab in the College Academy area of the school. Wednesday July 31 Freshman Orientation was held in the Auditorium. We set up a display in the lobby with a sign up sheet. We couldn't have our robot at the session, since the elevator was broken. We think we might have a hand in that, because the day before we moved all our "stuff" from the PLTW Room closet downstairs to our new Robotics Lab upstairs. We have accumulated a lot of equipment from only four years as a team and it took many trips upstairs with loaded carts and back downstairs with empty carts. Thursday we set up our display at the Back to School Bash held for teachers, parents, and community. It was so hot we think that the robot was even sweating! The remainder of the class levels had their orientation sessions on Friday August 2nd. Sophomores and Juniors in the morning and Seniors in the afternoon. At that time we were presented with our first grant check for the 2020 season. August 3rd was the Annual North Huntsville Back to School Parade & Festival. We set up a driving course outside the gym, and gave prizes to anyone who could drive the robot. We even had teachers and security guards trying to not knock down any traffic cones! Overall we generated interest in joining the robotics team from students in all grade levels. We're looking forward to a great year!
