April 2022: Rotary Club Lunch

It has been two years since the team last visited our wonderful sponsor, the Rotary Club of Greater Huntsville. Rumors of the delicious food, and especially the ice cream kept the team abuzz. On Wednesday April 20 we were able to attend and show the Rotary Club members our robot.

Most of our team was able to attend, along with three of the mentors who weren't members of the Rotary Club. We have two mentors who are Rotarians. The team loaded the robot and cart into a mentor's pickup truck, and then we attended the luncheon. The presentation included a PowerPoint that explained what FIRST is all about and two videos. The first video showcased one of our matches from the Rocket City Regional event we attended two weeks ago. The second video was created by the students and showed them talking about why they joined the team, what they learned, what were the hardest and most fun parts of being on a team, and how they thought their experience might affect their future. After the presentation the Rotarians asked questions of the students about their experiences.

We had our 2022 robot in the lobby outside of the meeting room and demonstrated it for the Rotary members. The team demonstrated the autonomous mode of the robot and then drove it around and demonstrated the mechanisms on the robot.
